Wine Wednesday | #100winebottleschallenge so far

It’s that time of the week again guys; Wine O’clock on Wine Wednesday! For those who, like me, have been eyeing the clock all day waiting for wine o’clock, I’m pleased to inform you that it’s time. You may pull out those corks, glasses and bottles now πŸ™‚ (Yippee!).

If you’ve been following the blog, you’ll know that I took on the #100winebottles challenge a while ago. The point of this was to extend my horizons, surprise my tastebuds and see where the journey leads. I’ll confess that so far, my heart is still largely in South Africa. There’s just something about a good bottle of South African wine.

I thought I’d share some of the bottles I’ve had so far (since I started the challenge) for anyone who might want to grab a bottle or two for themselves. The more the merrier!

1. Graham Beck Brut
I’m a sucker for bubbly. And this bottle was it! If you’re looking for something sparkling but dont quite have the pocket for champagne, find yourself one of these and thank me later! πŸ™‚

2.Mouton Cadet 2012 Bordeaux

This one had a lovely finish and a lingering aftertaste of tamarinds.

3. Oakridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
I found an Oakridge promotion in Shoprite two weeks ago. The description on the label was so inviting that I just had to buy a bottle. I found it a little dilute, though, but it was an interesting experience nonetheless.

4. Alto Rouge 2012 (South Africa)
This is honestly one of the best reds I’ve ever had! (Thanks for the recommendation Sara!)

5. Cape Elephant Ruby Cabernet

This bottle was so basic, it was memorable…lol. Labels can be very deceptive!

These were the first five bottles I tried. 3 good ones out of 5 wasn’t bad at all.

Have you tried any of these bottles? I ‘d love to hear about your experience!

Happy drinking!
xx
